Teen Beach 2 is a project that parents can get a kick out of, too, largely because of the premise. Surf-movie characters from the '60s gazing at smart phones?
Anyone can enjoy that. Bill Harris. Brian Lowry. In the end, Teen Beach Movie owes more to its s predecessors than its audience might realize, painting the same fantasy world where everyone is nice.

My favorite parts out of the whole movie were every part Tanner was in and talking. He constantly had me laughing and was the only exciting part in the movie and the only reason why im giving this a 4 lol.
Lela agrees to leave, and the movie characters retreat into their world, and Mack and Brady leave separately. Riftmann 28 June I loved Teen Beach Movie.
I grew up with the cheesy 60s beach movies and it was a perfect homage. I was far outside the demographic for the movie and drove people nuts watching it over and over and singing the songs and dancing constantly.
I've waited a long time for 2 and meh No Barry Bostwick. Confusing addition of more characters that add nothing to the story. The 60 vibe is gone.
Mack's rapid fire witty dialogue is gone. Message is same exact message as the first movie. The ending is Davis Doctor Who script which is not a good thing.
Tanner and Leia are the only 60s kids with any air time. Doesn't start with the ending of the first movie. The whole thing just doesn't jell.
Ross Lynch is ripped and shirtless, or in a tank top, way too often. On the plus side- Choreography is still great.
Songs aren't bad, just not 60ish. Message is still need it just is the same old same old. Just blah, no magic like the first one for me.
This movie has none of the charm or fun of the first one. And the music is, at best, forgettable. Most of the songs sound like something created by American Idol, with just as thin a melody and lyrics.
There was one decent - could have been good - song pretty much at the end of the movie that almost had interesting choreography - the 'truck stomping' bit was fairly creative as opposed to all of the rest.
Otherwise, the most memorable songs were ones that were carried over - and 'redone' - from the first movie.
Some of the horrible examples of what is wrong with this movies are: There was no attempt to even try to pick up the story from the suggestion given at the end of the original.
The new 'songs' were horrible and forgettable. There was none of the fun of the originals nor was there even an attempt to give them any decent choreography.
A lot of the songs were just played while the actors walked through the current scene. The actors - especially the guys - had horrible makeup and hairdos.
For the most part they looked like they had died and been made up for their viewing at the funeral. They totally screwed up the storyline from the first to the second movie.
So trying to create suspense based on a nonsensical change in the original storyline just blew the whole idea.
The ending was horrible, and an insult to the original movie and even managed to be an insult to the imaginary movie 'Wet Side Story'. Need I go on?
Disney would do well to chuck this movie immediately and pretend it never existed. Then they should either go back to the drawing board and come up with a movie that played truer to the first, or just not make a sequel at all.
I'm going to have to go back and watch the first one just to try to erase this one from my memory. But it was so bad it's probably going to take at least 10 back-to-back viewing of the first to even start to do so.
Can't believe after a two year wait this was the best Disney could come up with Two years ago the idea of a Disney musical about kids on a beach sounded kinda lame to me, but I kept getting drawn in as I walked by the TV as my kids watched the original Teen Beach Movie.
Finally, I sat down to watch the whole thing Having grown up on Beach Blanket Bingo films, I loved what Disney did with this parody in the original film.
It was a cute premise that paid homage to the old goofy classics in a really charming way. It was fun, funny, and the tunes were so catchy, we still break out into them from time to time in our house.
So needless to say, over recent months the excitement has been building in our household in anticipation for the premiere of Teen Beach Even my youngest who always thinks the sequel or any most recent movie he's seen is the best movie ever, looked sadly to me afterward and said he expected better.
I'd been holding my tongue with pretty much the same sentiment since the movie started. My son is still holding out for redemption in a Teen Beach 3.
As for me? This was the lame movie I thought I was avoiding the first time around. Liked the song : jacobtbrown 14 February Liked the song 'on my own' it was very good the rest however I have not seen because I hav something called dignity ;.
The movie its actually pretty entertaining. It has catchy songs, great dance scenes, and they made all the characters likable and really funny, especially Tanner, but the ending was crap.
The ending of the movie basically makes it as if the first movie never happened. Its actually pretty annoying and frustrating seeing Mack and Brady "meet" when they met for a whole summer and had a pretty crazy adventure.
I am trying to not spoil the ending too much, but its crap. The only reason I am doing this review is because of how crappy the ending was, but overall is entertaining.
In others words watch it and enjoy it but be prepared for a crap ending. While watching this movie I realized how boring it could get.
But I never knew how bad an ending could be until it happened. My first main problem with this movie is Brady and Mack.
They were awful together in this movie and it made absolutely no sense. They changed Mack's characters completely and Brady stayed the same.
However the fact that Brady didn't want to tell Mack about making surf boards when they surf together! Second, the songs were terrible.
They were mediocre compared to the ones they made in the first one. None of them made me attached to the movie. Third, Lela is a movie character not a real person.
She would only know how to say her lines. She wouldn't know to change the story. And lastly, that messed up ending. Now she's more laid back to be with Brady.
Which I need to say is a terrible lesson to teach kids. Don't be yourself in a relationship, become exactly like the person you're with.
Overall, it's forgettable and the only thing worth it was Tanner and Brady. If this kind of film can only be seen at a certain age, it really feels silly to watch it now.
And although so happy is actually a horror movie, the characters in the film cross the real world but want to live in reality, but finally have to go back, very sad story.
And the hostess said that if they were together, there was no secret, no fear. This movie had its moments but it wasn't quite as good as the first.
Some questions, and realize there are spoilers here. You had the characters of the movie come into the real world.
It would have been interesting to have those characters somehow come in contact with the actors that played them--who of course would be 53 years older.
It was a little unclear how much time passed between the first and second movies. It almost seemed as if it was like a week later at most.
Some more plot points. Again, heavy spoilers here. If it was possible to somehow change the movie at the end, from Wet Side Story to Lela: Queen of the Beach, and because of that, Mac and Brady never met, then Brady never had a Wet Side Story to love, and they never end up in that movie, and never meet Lela and Tanner.
If they never meet Lela and Tanner, then Lela never changes the movie. I think it would have made more sense if instead of reliving the movie, we followed the characters from the point AFTER Mac and Brady left.
Lela Queen of the Beach then could have been a sequel. Plus, I feel the ending cheats the audience a bit. I get what they were trying to do, but the execution didn't work for me.
I do hope they make a third movie though, and don't wait 2 years to do it. There are more actors in this movie and a lot of songs the song of Sabrina carpenter is so great when they were dancing a slow dance it's full of energy the final scene was great but i think Mack should wear a longer skirt because it's too short she should wear more suitable clothes not a swim suit when she was dancing.
It's better than the original because the story is more powerful and funnier! The original film dealt with a pair of fans from today who think the original movie from the early Kennedy era Sixties is the greatest piece of cinema ever made.
Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell step into the world of that movie and change things just by being there and then have to leave, but not before repairing all the damage they've done.
Teen Beach 2 is exactly the opposite. The lead characters from the film Garret Clayton and Grace Phipps step into the real world and their Sixties frame of mind gets quite a culture shock when they see the world of Pretty soon however the whole cast even the extras come over into the real world.
Like characters from the Holodeck of the Enterprise. And those folks meet an inevitable end when they venture beyond their Holodeck world.
Now it's Clayton and Phipps who turn things upside down and have to get back to their world. The film actually asks some intriguing questions but in the end you have to remember this is a Disney film and meant for juvenile audiences who don't think so terribly deep.
The performers are scrubbed clean and fresh and are attractive as you would expect anything from the Magic Kingdom to be. It's obvious that Disney Studios is going to stretch this out like they did with the High School Musical series.
Here's an interesting thought though. In the movie if the real players who were Clayton and Phipps when they were younger, if they're not dead would now be even older than I am and on social security.
What if their selves met Clayton and Phipps? Turn that one over in your mind for a third Teen Beach movie. I was really excited for this movie because the first movie was amazing but Teen Beach 2 was kind of a let down.
Sure, you could argue. Some songs were catchy, it was a great storyline, some parts were funny and some parts were very touching but I do have my reasons for writing this review.
Firstly, the new people totally ruined the vibe, causing me to forget this movie was about characters. They were totally unnecessary! The movie was overall less bouncy and fun than the first one and was much less music.
The ending was my least favourite scene in the entire movie! So, you Referring to Disney just made me cry because Brady and Mack had a massive fight which was probably the aim but you make me die because they completely forget about each other?
The first movie was so much more Fun and up beat. Lucky that the sequel wasn't the first movie otherwise I'd have a lot more frustration for this movie.
I just hope there is a 3rd movie where everything goes back to normal meaning Mack and Brady remember each other and everything they've done together and the third has just as good a plot, just as good a storyline and the same actors and vibe as the first one.

For what it is, for what it tries to do, it is a very nicely entertaining movie. Most of the cast are the same actors in the same roles but the time- travel reversed.
The young actors are talented and energetic and the movie has several nice singing and dancing production numbers.
It is a nice throw-back to the beach movies of the s when I was an actual teenager. In the first movie Ross Lynch as Brady and his new girlfriend Maia Mitchell as Mack are on the surf and magically get transported to their favorite movie, they have encounters with the characters, much as the twins do in "Pleasantville.
Much like in both "Pleasantville" and in "Purple Rose of Cairo" the characters only knew what was contained in the various scripts and had to learn most modern stuff anew.
